It’s really real. Dorohedoro Season 2’s release is imminent. The April 1st release date is, it turns out, not a joke at all thank the powers that be. It appears to have moved over to Crunchyroll, which is fine – as long as it gets to continue and gets the love it deserves I am fine watching it on whatever platform.
I don’t know that I have spoken much about it here, but Dorohedoro by Q-Hayashida is my all time, hands down, no contest, favorite manga. I can’t claim old school cred as I didn’t read it from the start, but I can say that I’ve read all of it before the anime dropped on Netflix some…4-5 years ago?
Dorohedoro can be a hard sell up front. It’s a completely bonkers world with its own rules and some pretty unique qualities. The quick version is that there’s two worlds – the sorcerer’s realm and “Hole” where our “heroes” Kaiman and Nikaido live. Kaiman has a lizard head and he doesn’t quite know why. Nikaido is a restaurant owner (and incredible proficient fighter) and Kaiman’s best friend. She is helping him on his journey to figure out his past. Throw in a few lovable but evil sorcerer’s with a variety of wild magic powers (from mushroom based magic to slicing people in little bits while keeping them alive) and you’ve got… well, something. It’s best to jump in and just see what happens. The characters are delightful and it’s got a bizarre sense of humor. If you dig Chainsaw Man I think this will be for you.
I am not the type to care about proving loyalty to a piece of media but I will enthusiastically share my Kaiman tattoo (by Christopher Mesi) whenever I meet another fan. Not because I want to assert myself as the fan (plenty of Dorohedoro fans have tattoos from the manga/show after all) but because I am so unbelievably stoked to meet someone else who loves one of my favorite things.

If you care to see the trailer, you can click the video below – unless you watched Season 1 (still on Netflix), it will make absolutely no sense. I can’t promise watching Season 1 will help much either, after all Chaos is a major component of the show. That said, strap in because you’re in for a wild ride.
